This is the 11-year anniversary of “Evan Davis Jazz”. It started as a blog in August 2009 with the original purpose of helping to support local performers in Las Vegas. A few performers asked me to send out flyers to promote their gigs and look what it’s turned into. Jazz was so much healthier and more interesting when these two disparate strands of the music were still germinating within a larger unity, when Coltrane was the star member of Davis’s quintet Multi award winning jazz duo Davis and Dow are two strong halves of one BIG sound; a culmination of performing and touring together for 25 years. They tackle jazz and pop standards with a daring sense of abandon. While their style is deeply rooted in the classic jazz tradition, they enjoy weaving different genres of music into their repertoire.
