The Hyundai Eon was launched in 2011. Since then, the car has never received a major update. In August 2018, Hyundai Motor India Pvt. Ltd announced that the Eon will be discontinued by the end of September 2019, as the car is not compliant with new safety regulations that will be implemented in October 2019 and the Bharat Stage VI emissions regulations that will be enforced in April 2020. Hyundai wanted to make a car to sit below the i10 and then made the Eon which was a 5-door hatchback. The car was discontinued because it didn’t meet the new safety regulations by India.
